THE CLUB

The Manila Off-Roaders, Inc. (MORI) is a SEC registered non-stock non-profit entity set up by four-wheel drive and off road enthusiasts from Metro Manila. While it was incorporated in 2001, the full time members numbering to 24 has been together for a longer time in pursuing activities such as trailing, off-road racing as well as assisting other organizations in social works like medical missions and the La Mesa Dam road exploration.

At present, MORI boasts of members who own and build various types of 4wheel drive vehicles from semi-stock set up to fully modified or extreme off-road machines. Thus, it has sent several vehicles around the country to compete in the most technical off-road race available. The members consider this activity both as a skills development activity and an opportunity to meet fellow off-road enthusiasts.

With barely half a year since its formal incorporation, MORI has also assisted other 4wheel drive organizations in promoting the sport and was instrumental in setting up the National Association of Filipino Off-Roaders (NAsFOR). This Association was formally incorporated to set the direction of the sport to international level. In fact, the founding president and the first set of key officers of this national federation are also founding members of MORI.

With such intention to be actively involved in the sport of 4 wheeling, members of MORI will endeavor to be very visible in the off-roading scene.

HISTORY

Following the demise of the All 4 Fun Manila, a pioneering 4x4 club in the country, off roading stalwarts Brian Diaz, Ramon To-ong, Rep. Rimpy Bondoc, Atty. Galland Diaz and other remnants of the group decided to form another club which will continue their goal of eventually making offroading a mainstream motor sport. Formed in the middle of 2001 with Brian Diaz at the helm as President, Rep. Rimpy Bondoc as Vice President, Ramon To-ong as Treasurer and Atty. Galland Diaz as Secretary, MORI has since been involved in worthwhile projects such as numerous medical missions, supporting and participating in motoring and non motoring events - and it’s greatest contribution to the Philippine offroading, spearheading the formation of the National Association of Filipino Off-Roaders (NAsFOR) ; a national 4x4 federation which aims to standardize and set the direction of the sport to international level.

To date, MORI boasts of 2 (two) national races in it’s name, perhaps the most anticipated offroad racing event in the country, The First Philippine Tough Truck Challenge and The Tough Truck Challenge Year 2. The stage is set for The 3rd Tough Truck Challenge to be held late November this year which promises to be bigger than the previous editions.

MISSION

Always on the forefront, The Manila Off Roaders, Inc. aims to become the premier off roading organization in the country. With the goal of elevating Philippine Offroading to International level, MORI has planted the seeds in terms of Race Organization, Safety Measures, Sponsorships, and Racing Rules compliant to International Standard. As pioneers, MORI also aims to promote the activity of offroading/trailing and expand the awareness in offroad safety and respect to the environment. Be active in socio-civic activities (i.e. medical and educational missions, emergencies, rescues and other activities that would require our skills and expertise.

MORI's immediate goal for this year, 2003, is to raise enough funds to support the planned activities; the offroad clinics for beginners, owners of SUVs and the likes, medical and educational missions for indigents in the countryside, emergency and rescue drills utilizing 4x4 vehicles (most useful in lahar or flooded areas), holding of 4x4 summit and team building activities.
